Передача предложений в косвенной речи требует изменения структуры предложений, временных форм, а также некоторых местоимений и наречий. Вот как можно переделать приведенные предложения:

Mike said to the teacher, "My sister knows two foreign languages."
- Mike told the teacher that his sister knew two foreign languages.
"What have you prepared for today, children?" said the teacher.
- The teacher asked the children what they had prepared for that day.
Tom said to his sister, "I saw your friend at the library yesterday."
- Tom told his sister that he had seen her friend at the library the day before.
The teacher said to the pupils, "Don't open your books."
- The teacher told the pupils not to open their books.
Mother said to me, "You will go to the cinema tomorrow."
- Mother told me that I would go to the cinema the next day.
"Tom, go to bed," said his mother.
- Tom's mother told him to go to bed.
"We shall go to the zoo tomorrow," said our grandmother.
- Our grandmother said that we would go to the zoo the next day.
При преобразовании прямой речи в косвенную важно следить за согласованием времен и изменением указательных слов (например, "yesterday" меняется на "the day before", "tomorrow" на "the next day" и т.д.).
